Ahhh, pink, passion-filled February!
Valentines, chocolate, flowers; love is in the very air!

And make no mistake, the guy in the middle? Dressed like Cupid?

Totally naked! ( Take that, corporate censors! )

This month a new column premiered; "A Few Choice Morsels" to rotate
with the Well-Fed Ed column. Along with Ed, Janet was
an important part of the product development team.

I did a quick little header for the column (I think Janet came up with
the name itself) and hers was to be the first of many portraits I'd do
of future guest columnists. (See Sunflower Illustration)

Another litle UBI ("Useless Bit of Information")

The mug in the tea illustration was Ashley's personal mug
with the Sunflower logo on it, and she used it in her illustration.

It was feared that customers would see it in the picture and
expect to be able to purchase it, so she had to remove the logo.

Ah, the slings and arrows of modern living...

The woman holding the oranges
was a lady who worked in another department in our building.

I walked past her desk about once a week,
and she had a smile that lit up the whole floor.

So when it came time to illustrate the produce page again,
I asked her to pose for me.

I mean, who wouldn't buy an orange from this woman?

See that beautiful bag of fresh coffee beans in the upper left?
Fair Trade coffee from New Guinea?
A one pound bag FOR ONLY $6.99?

We found out shortly after this issue was released
that SUPERVALU had made the decision to pull the plug on
all the Sunflower Markets. Bam. No discussion. It's over.

I, for one, may never understand the sense of it.
